XYLOCAINE NF CREAM is a combination of Lignocaine and Nifedipine, which belongs
to the group of medicines called Local anaesthetics and Calcium channel
blockers. It is used to relieve pain and relax muscles during the management or
examination of anal fissures, thrombosed external haemorrhoids,
post-haemorrhoidectomy, anal sphincter hypertonia, etc.
An anal fissure is a small cut or tear in the delicate lining of the anus that
occurs when passing hard or large stools, causing pain and bleeding during bowel
movements. Sometimes the pain caused by the anal fissure leads to contraction of
the muscle that controls bowel movements and frequent bowel movements.
Before applying XYLOCAINE NF CREAM, inform your doctor if you have severely
injured mucosa, inflammation of the areas in the rectum, diabetes, liver or
kidney cardiac insufficiency, etc. Pregnant (especially during the first
trimester) and breastfeeding women should use XYLOCAINE NF CREAM with caution.
XYLOCAINE NF CREAM is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below
18 years of age) and should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult
your doctor before applying. The common side effects of XYLOCAINE NF CREAM are
pain, burning sensations, itching, hyperemia and bleeding. Consult your doctor
if any of the symptoms worsen.
Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic that numbs the area where you have applied it
by stopping nerves from sending pain signals to the brain. Nifedipine is a
calcium channel blocker that relaxes the muscles in the anal opening. This
collective action is useful for relieving pain and healing anal fissures.
Apply XYLOCAINE NF CREAM as advised by your physician. It is for rectal use
only. Wash your hands before use and if possible, use a finger covering, such as
a plastic wrap, cling film, a finger cot or a disposable glove. Apply the
medicine to the anal region as advised by your doctor. Your doctor will
determine the correct dose and duration of management for you based on your age
and the severity of your existing condition.
Itching:
Wash the area around the anus carefully daily with plain water or mild soap to
keep it clean and dry. Avoid irritants and do not wear tight underwear. If there
is no improvement, please consult your doctor for advice.
