Introduction About KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET contains Procyclidine which belongs to the group of
medicines called Anticholinergics. It is used to relieve and manage the signs of
Parkinson's disease such as stiff muscles, paralysis, shaking of hands
(tremors), trouble talking, writing and walking, producing too much saliva and
dribbling, sweating, uncontrolled eye movements and depression.

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET is also used to control extrapyramidal effects caused by
certain medicines used to manage mental health conditions, which might include
restlessness and unusual head and body movements.

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have tardive dyskinesia
(uncontrolled movements of the head or tongue). Consult your doctor before
taking it.

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver, kidney
disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, thyrotoxicosis. Consult
your doctor before taking it.

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if it is considered
clearly necessary. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking it.

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents.

How KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET Works

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET works by stopping a substance called acetylcholine in the
brain and helps to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease such as muscle
stiffness, sweating, production of saliva and improves walking ability in people
with Parkinson’s disease and also helps to controls Parkinson-like side effects
caused by certain medicines used to manage mental health conditions.

How to use KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET

Take KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Take it with food to
reduce nausea. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the
medicine.

Your doctor will decide an appropriate dose and duration depending upon your
age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET
unless your doctor advises you to stop. Otherwise, your symptoms may return.

How To Manage Side Effects

Nausea and vomiting:

Take the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid

Constipation:

Eat plenty of fiber rich foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink
ample amount of water. Exercise more regularly. If you still feel constipated,

Dry mouth:

Sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Do not use alcohol-containing
mouthwashes because they can make your mouth dry. Limit your caffeine intake.

Dizziness:

Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch
the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going

Others

KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

Before taking KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

• have intolerance to certain sugars
• have trouble passing urine (urinary retention) due to an enlarged prostate gland
• have an obstructive disease of the stomach or bowels (Ex. pyloric stenosis, paralytic ileus)

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of
the following medicines:

• medicines used to manage mental health problems (such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, depression, schizophrenia) Ex. tacrine, memantine, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, paroxetine, amitriptyline, clozapine, donepezil, rivastigmine, chlorpromazine
• nicotine (used to help stop smoking)
• pilocarpine (used to manage dry mouth or glaucoma)
• bethanechol (used to help urinate)
• medicines used to manage nausea, vomiting and indigestion (Ex. cisapride, domperidone and metoclopramide)
• medicines used in Parkinson's disease (Ex. amantadine, levodopa)
• medicines used for heart complaints (Ex. disopyramide, quinidine, nitrate)
• nefopam (used for managing pain)
• ketoconazole (used to manage fungal infections)
• antihistamines (medicines used to relieve allergies) Ex. loratadine, cetirizine

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of KEMADRIN 5MG TABLET, consult
your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of KEMADRIN 5MG
TABLET overdose are fast heartbeat, agitation, restlessness, confusion, severe
inability to sleep, excitement, feel anxious and aggressive, disorientation,
pupils in the eye may not open or close when light is shined on them,
hallucinations, feeling very sleepy, fall into unconsciousness or into a coma.
